DUELLUM emerged after designer Tomoaki Okaniwa created the costumes for Berlin-based choreographer Juan Kruz Diaz de Garaio Esnaola’s private piece III. The label delves into the individuality forged by coexisting opposites—the inner “duel” every human carries.

Guided by a lexicon of dualis (duality), frictio (friction), vortex (whirl), schism (split), and symbiosis (co-living), DUELLUM intentionally collides contrasts: sharp and soft, tailored and raw, technical fabrics layered with naturals. Precise construction meets unfinished edges; sculptural silhouettes dissolve into fluid drape, embodying a choreography of conflict.

Each garment is conceived as an unfinished work that completes itself only through the dialogue between wearer and observer. With every movement, friction and harmony intertwine, revealing the duel within and unlocking a singular, unrepeatable identity.
